Monitor


⟶ Monitor is a common ouput device that displays information in the forms of pixels. The more pixels inside the monitor, better the quality of picture it will be.
⟶ It is softcopy output device.
⟶ Also known as VDT (Visual Display Terminal) or VDU (Visual Display Unit)
⟶ Used to display image, text, video and graphic information generated by a computer via a computer's video card.

Types of Monitor


1. CRT Monitor

⟶ It Stands for Cathode Ray Tube
⟶ Technology: Use electron beam to activate phosphprus on the screen to produce image
⟶ Image quality: Good contrast and color accuracy, low resolution
⟶ Size: Large, bulky
⟶ Power consumption: consume more power 
⟶ Weight: heavy
⟶ Uses: Older TV and Computer

2. LCD Monitor

⟶ It stands for Liquid Crystal Display.
⟶ Technology: Use liquid crystal to control light and produce image
⟶ Image quality: Good, better resolution than CRT monitor
⟶ Size: Slim 
⟶ Power consumption: consume less power than CRT
⟶ Weight: light
⟶ Uses: Modern computers

3. LED Monitor

⟶ It stands for Light Emitting Diode.
⟶ Technology: Use LED for source of light to produce image
⟶ Image quality: Better contrast and brightness than LCD monitor
⟶ Size: Slim
⟶ Power consumption: consume less power than LCD
⟶ Weight: lighter than LCD
⟶ Uses: Modern computer, laptop, smartphones

4. Plasma Monitor

⟶ Also known as Plasma Display Panel
⟶ Technology: Use electrically charged gas to illuminate phosphorus on the screen to produce image.
⟶ Image quality: Good color accuracy and contrast
⟶ Size: slim
⟶ Power consumption: consume less power than CRT and more than LCD/LED
⟶ Weight: heavier than LCD/LED
⟶ Uses: TV screen, Laptop
