Computer Network

⟶ Interconnection of two or more computer with wire or wireless medium to share data and resources is computer network.
⟶ ARPANET is the first computer network.

Network component

⟶ The components that are needed to create a computer network are network components.

⟶ Components of networks are

i. Server

⤷ Most powerful computer that provides data and resources to other computer in network

⤷ It has Network operating system and also manage and control all the computer

ii. Workstation/client

⤷ All the computer connected to the server

⤷ Also called user

iii. Network operating system

⤷ A special operating system runs on server that gives capabilities to manage client computer and other application

⤷ E.g. Windows NT, Windows Server, Linux

iv. Network Interface Card

⤷ Used to establish physical connection between network and computer

⤷ Also called Ethernet card or Network card

v. Transmission media

⤷ The mode or medium through which data are transferred from sender to receivers

⤷ It is component of physical layer in OSI model

vi. Networking Device

⤷ The hardware device that are needed to establish communication between different computer in network
